ON HER MORNING ROUTINE
I wake up with just enough time to drink some water, shower, get dressed, put on makeup, check instagram, and then I run out the door! I can’t wake up early and I always cut it close.
on her personal style
I realize I only tend to wear black, white, or blue. Maybe that’s what New York does to you. I think I don’t buy as many clothes as other people, probably because now I’m really picky and careful to buy something that I’m going to wear for a long time. Simple cuts and styles are best, and I feel like Zara is really good at that. I also just shop online on ebay or asos. I’ve been getting in the habit of cutting out jeans into shorts, as they somehow look better than way.
on her beauty routine
In general I wear little makeup and usually avoid it as much as possible. I like to have a clean face most of the time and I usually do it right when I get home, so it’s important that face wash doesn’t dry my skin out. I typically use Kiehls Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash. I also use the Kiehls Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate as well as the Thermal Spring Water Spray and Micellar Lotion by Eau Thermale Avene. I know everyone’s talking about those konjac sponges but I really like using it! And because I’m an adult now...you have to moisturize morning and night. As I get older I’ve gotten better at finding good beauty products I’m into, I don’t think I cared as much a few years ago. My friend initially gave me this L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last lipstick because she didn’t like the color, and I haven’t stop wearing them since. The color never comes off. I don’t have to worry about it. When I do wear makeup though, I use Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer, Clinique High Lengths Mascara, Laura Mercier Brow Powder Duo, and Benefit's Watt's Up Highlighter.
on her favorite people
My favorite people on this planet are Stefan Sagmeister, an amazing graphic designer and artist, I keep his list of ‘things I have learned in my life’ on my phone whenever I need a moment of calm, Tehching Hsieh, an insane performance artist, and Julian Casablancas, who is forever my 1 true love.
on her favorite prints
The most special prints are the ones I got from Ofer Wolberger, blown up from his book Covers because I saw them when I had just moved to NY and now I finally have them. I really like the ones from Adam Turnbull that say Dreams (with a number for a 24 hr psychic) and Failures (with a number for 24 hr legal advice service). I haven’t called yet but I just might when things get desperate. Some others I have are the Baron Von Fancy print, Nothing Is Wrong If It Feels Good as well as Linda Montano and Teaching Hsieh's Art/Life One Year Performance Poster. If you’re trying to decorate your apartment you can get some at Printed Matter or online at posterchildprints.
on school and work
I went to school for Communications focusing on Film/TV and found that I really enjoyed the managing aspect of it. I started as a production intern at VICE and continued from there. Being a project manager is still a production role, it’s handling all aspects of a campaign and seeing it to completion. It feels great to be able to finish something and see how an idea can turn into a video, event, or a whole experience.
