ON HER MORNING ROUTINE
I wake up around 8am, do 30 minutes of exercises & yoga stretches. I then have my coffee & breakfast while perusing free craigslist and my horoscope.
ON HER personal style
I mostly shop at Beacon’s Closet, and at Darling to fulfill my desire to have new clothes.
I don’t have a particular aesthetic; First, I go for things that make me feel excited, then I ask myself can afford this/will wear this? Although that gets thrown out if I decide I’m in love with it.
I’m so lucky to live with an amazing fashion designer, illustrator, and boutique owner, Donna Jean Baxter. Whenever I don’t know what to wear or have anything to wear, she dresses me up... it’s like having a sister who only has the best stuff.
on her favorite books
I first read A Hero of Our Time in high school. I love rereading favorite books periodically throughout life. Each time it’s a different experience with a new perspective. A Hero of Our Time never gets old to me. I love the antihero, Pechorin and I’m always moved by how beautifully and accurately Lermontov depicts winter.
On being inspired
Lately I’ve been inspired by Laura Sfez & Goldie Hawn from Overboard. I like classy, simple silhouettes that are both classic and sexy. And then somedays I want jeans and a T-shirt and flats!
On HER FAVORITE beauty PRODUCTS
When buying beauty products, I want it to smell good, work well, and contain natural plant based ingredients. I get a lot of my stuff at this shop in Greenpoint called Brooklyn Groove. I think the most important things are to wash your face, moisturize, and protect it with sunscreen.
On McGorlick Park
I love McGolrick Park for its roses & peonies in spring, the beautiful square with the archway, and the farmers market. Transmitter Park is another favorite of mine. I love to walk my dog there.
ON HER ideal weekend
My ideal weekend would be to drive upstate to the New Paltz area since I lived there for two years and miss the nature and small town charm. I would climb to the top of a waterfall, go swimming in a mountain stream, go shopping at the antique and thrift stores, and eat farm-to-table!
