ON HER MORNING ROUTINE
I love mornings. I get up between 6:30 and 7ish and immediately chug some water and make coffee. The next few hours are a mix of any of the following: reading my current book, magazine, or NYMag.com, listening to podcasts, headstands, checking EBay, making oatmeal or a smoothie, showering and calling my mom.
on the start of her career
I studied merchandising at FIT, then I interned for Nicola Formichetti my junior year of college thinking that I wanted to be a stylist. I quickly got spit out from that world. I’m too laid-back to work in fashion. I was getting pretty scared about my prospects and getting so bored and restless so I reached out to Katie Garcia at Captured Tracks who I heard was in need of help at the label. So I asked to intern. Within a few months they offered me a job. My title was in-house publicist. I ended up being the first publicist for DIIV and Mac DeMarco and all the reissues on the label. I stayed there for two and a half years. I heard Matador was hiring and it was a big deal because they had not hired anyone in almost six years. I went through several interviews with everyone that worked at the label in the US, and I ended up being chosen!
on her favorite hobby
Going to the movies by myself I one of my favorite things to do. In college, I went a few times a week. If I had a long break between classes I would pop into a theatre. My favorite directors are Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch, Roman Polanski, and Jacques Audiard. I also have a soft spot for action movies. John Wick was my favorite movie last year. It’s so good. The Guest was a close second. Great soundtrack too.
on her shopping habits and style
I like to shop on EBay, The RealReal, YOOX, and wherever shopstyle directs me to the cheapest price. The designers I usually stalk are Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, Miu Miu and Acne. I’m drawn to interesting prints that I can wear with black. I guess I usually dress like a preppy tomboy with a dash of sexy depending on my mood. I love short skirts and sneakers, or loafers with a white t-shirt.
on her favorite household item
I saw the Soma water filter on some gift buying list for the holidays last year and was shocked that a water filter could actually be beautiful. I had to convince my boyfriend that it was worth the extra money. He loves it now.
her favorite protein shake
My mom turned me onto Jay Robb’s Vanilla Whey Protein. How she decided to buy it in the first place is unclear, but it makes every smoothie better. A good recipe is to combine a handful of frozen blueberries and pineapple, a handful of fresh spinach, a serving of Jay Robb's Vanilla Whey Protein, a spoonful of bee pollen, a spoonful of powdered wheatgrass, almond milk, and ice.
On HER BEAUTY ROUTINE
I wash my face at night and put on Kiehl’s avocado eye cream. In the morning, I splash cold water on my face and moisturize/sunscreen up with Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant and CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion then put on mascara. I’m terrible at putting on makeup. I really need to book an appointment at Sephora for makeup 101 with the 13-year-old girls and start trying, but that has yet to happen.
I also use Yarok Feed Your Ends Leave-In Conditioner, Mario Badescu Facial Spray, Aesop Shine Hair Oil, Oribe Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream, Elujuda Fluent Oil Hair Treatment, and Bioderma Sensibio H2O Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution.
on home decor
I’ve grown to have mid-century furniture obsession. When I found out that I got my last job, I immediately decided I needed a piece of adult furniture and got my dresser that I moved to divide up the living and sleeping areas of the apartment. I got it at RePop on Metropolitan Avenue, the place I’m sure you’ve seen that on first glance screams overpriced, but I swear they have some good deals in there. Sometimes.
I’m also fully aware that I have very good luck when it comes to finding great furniture. It’s a gift and a curse. My one piece of advice is get a good van contact. I have movers that are so cheap and friendly. I feel like most people get deterred with getting the piece from Point A to Point B. Not me.
