Passerbuys Events: Playlist Potluck Dinner with Sonos & West Elm

To celebrate an amazing month of events, recommendations coming to life and relaxation at the Passerbuys Lounge at Canal Street Market, we teamed up with our partners for the space, west elm and SONOS, for a women-only dinner party. Catered by Dimes and with drinks provided by Johnnie Walker, the dinner was part of SONOS’ Playlist Potluck series. Instead of contributing a dish to the gathering—the traditional way of hosting a potluck dinner—guests added their favorite songs to a Spotify playlist when they RSVP’d, which was played throughout the evening over the SONOS sound system. The event was staffed entirely by women, focusing on female empowerment and celebrating women in industries that included fashion, art and design.

The guest-curated playlist set the mood during both the cocktail hour and dinner, as attendees chatted and mingled with each other and laughed about forgotten throwbacks and unexpected song transitions. A playlist made entirely of song selections by the women in attendance aligned perfectly with Passerbuys' curation of real recommendations from the women we see passing by.

Dimes co-founder Alissa Wagner and her team presented a mediterranean-inspired menu served family style, starting with a mezze that guests shared during the opening toast given by Passerbuys founder Clémence Polès. After a light salad, an assortment of vegetable dishes were passed around along with salmon and braised short rib. The meal ended with seasonal fruit and a coconut orange blossom cake with cardamom cream.

Three different cocktails—all featuring scotch—were crafted exclusively for the evening by Johnnie Walker, whose Vice President, Stephanie Jacoby, attended the dinner. The drinks were appropriately strong for a room full of strong women. With a new drink presented at the cocktail hour, the start of dinner, and with dessert, each cocktail was designed to be a perfect introduction for the novice scotch drinker, as well as a hit with seasoned whiskey lovers.
