ON HER MORNING ROUTINE

I have a glass of warm water, followed by a cortado and fresh fruit for breakfast, with the news running on the TV in the background. Two to three times a week I’ll go for a quick run — the other days I’ll do yoga at my house for 30min. I then check emails, shower, get dressed, and if it’s not raining, I’ll get the bicycle and get to work.

On Shopping and Personal Style

I shop everywhere. Brick and mortar, online, designer, high street...and vintage. Lots of vintage. As for my style...hmmm. I re-invent myself every day, so I’m not sure there is one word or sentence to describe it. I like putting pieces together that shouldn’t be worn together but somehow work—it’s fun.

Marion's Vintage Shopping Tips

If you have the time: Etsy. You need to know vintage sizes and some of the vintage “watch outs” though. And then there is A Current Affair—a vintage fair that takes place twice a year and has dealers from all over the country.

her advice for buying shoes

I love shoes and over the years it turned out I love heels more than flats. My advice: buy good shoes, it’s money well-spent because they are designed well. If the balance between the heel and the front is ever so slightly off, you put too much pressure on the top of your feet and walking becomes painful— these shoes are called “taxi shoes.” I wear a lot of platforms and  I would never buy shoes that already hurt when trying them on in the store—I need shoes that I can walk in aaaallll day.

I travel to India for Ayurveda every two years—and have been doing so for nearly 20 years. Yoga, meditation, hot oil massages and treatments—I’ll go there to detox and to bring body, mind and soul back into balance.

ON HER BEAUTY ROUTINE

I use the La Prairie Purifying Cream Cleanser morning and night. In the morning, I use La Prairie Cellular Tonic Water, then La Prairie Antiage Booster followed by Sisley All Day All Year (with SPF 30), and can’t forget Sisley Sisleya Eye Cream. At night I switch it up a bit more: either Estee Lauder Night Repair + Sisley Emulsion Ecologique or Sisley Rose Oil, or Sisley /  La Prairie night creams. On the weekend I use an Aveda Detox mask followed by an Aveda Hydrating mask. Or my absolute favorite: SKII Sheet Masks. For very cold winters or skin that needs healing: Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream is the best! It doesn’t necessarily smell good, but it’s a little miracle.

Marion'S BEAUTY TIP

The usual: sunscreen, drink water, avoid sugar—and be happy!

On her approach to home design and decor

I pretty much start from scratch every time I move—every apartment I ever lived in has a unique energy and the decor reflects that. The one thing I have been sticking with the past 20+ years: a king size bed. My furniture is a mix of vintage and design, I love a big table —I have a white one right now, but I may wake up tomorrow and want a black one. I like to move furniture around and rearrange pieces every few months—it makes for a new home without moving.

ON Her Nightly Routine

I usually meet friends for dinner after work and am home around 10:30/11pm. I recently made it a “routine” to watch the opening dialogue of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert—a few laughs before falling asleep is not a bad thing.
